AIMS

• To improve the built and natural environment and the quality of life
• To involve all local people in the life of the community and its future development
• To be a strong voice for local people and businesses
• To work positively with others who share our values
• To manage our finances and resources well and be an exemplar employer
• To ensure the implementation of the Parish Plan

OBJECTIVES

To communicate with our community, and their views, needs and aspirations to the appropriate statutory and non governmental bodies

To increase public involvement through being open, transparent and accountable to our residents by:

• the provision of a public forum at every Parish Council meeting
• consulting those affected on planning applications and other matters
• reporting our activities through The Noticeboard and the myshotley.com web site and supporting the same

To ensure that Councillors and Staff have access to high quality training and development opportunities

To respond on time to all planning applications and other statutory consultations

To provide, improve and maintain play equipment, allotments and public recreation space

To work with the District and County Councils to provide safe, healthy and timely opportunities for recreation, leisure and education by adding value to their statutory activities

To establish and support a Parish Plan Implementation Board

To provide wardens to contribute to keeping our public places clean and safe

To achieve “Quality Parish” status

To support the work of village organisations through grants and practical support

To develop and support business and economic activity in Shotley, including to encourage local residents to use local services

To work with the GP Practice, the Primary Care Trust and others to ensure local people have access to the best health care

To promote within our community, activities which support the principles of environmental sustainability and an ethical society
