This is a very brief summary of the key points from the meeting of Shotley Parish Council, held on 20 March 2008. More details will be in the minutes or by contacting the Clerk: 01473 788248, parishclerk@myshotley.com,
 
  • Once again, councillors were delighted to see several members of the public in attendance!
  • The Council made grants to Shotley Open Gardens and Soup-a-Lunch
  • Stour path breach: an alternative quotation for repairs to be carried out on the breached Stour path had been accepted and following assent from various agencies it was hoped that work would commence mid to late April. Further funding was being sought from various sources
  • Planning: there was no objection to a planning application relating to Bristol House, Estuary Road.
  • An objection on the grounds of scale were raised relating to a proposed extension at 22 Garden Close;
  • HMS Ganges update: it was noted that Babergh planning department were awaiting an independent report from the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessments regarding the Reserved Matters application and the Council would be requesting a copy of same.
  • Further contact had been made with the developers with regard to repairs to the mast, it was hoped that this would speed up the repair process.
  • The new Community Warden, Matt was introduced to Councillors.
  • The Council also held a review meeting on 6 March in order to review governance arrangements and priorities for the coming year which included
    • minor amendments to the Financial Regulations and Standing Orders
    • presentation of draft resilience / emergency plan and to consider recommendations
    • discussion on improvements to the communications strategy
    • the need for risk assessment and financial working parties;
    • community warden post - to consider Employment Committee’s recommendations
    • discussing the “Suffolk Futures Report”
    • an update of the Parish Plan Implementation Board’s projects
    • priorities for 2008/9
    • aims and objectives
  • Date of next meeting: Thursday 17 April, large committee room, Shotley Village Hall
