| This is a very brief summary of just some of the key points from the Shotley Parish Council meeting, held on 20 December 2007. More details will be in the minutes or by contacting the Clerk: 01473 788248, parishclerk@myshotley.com, |

- The meeting featured a discussion with a representative from Gemini / Far East Travel, who operate the 97, 97H and 98 buses serving Shotley. He had been invited due to a number of comments about services received by the Parish Council, particularly about the new 97H which is routed through the two residential estates of Kitchener Way and Kingsland.
- The Parish Council is supportive of bus services and the needs of everyone, and takes a balanced view of this controversial issue reflecting the mixed views expressed by parishioners (in writing and in attendance at this meeting). In fact, prior to the meeting, Gemini had made a commercial decision to drop the Kingsland / Queensland area from the 97H from February.
- In District Councillor Roberts's update, he reported that the bottle bank has been relocated from the school to the village hall car park. The (increased) proceeds will still go to the school.
- It was decided to start strimming the edges around the playgrounds.
- The Council discussed the list of outstanding issues
relating to the HMS Ganges Reserved Matters Application.
- Breached Stour path and cliff steps - a meeting had been held with the County Council, and concluded that a partnership be setup between the organisations with relevant responsibilities, to secure the funding to repair the breach. SCC listened to SPC and gave an assurance that the steps will not be removed. <more>
- It was agreed to contribute to and support the purchase of a speed gun for exclusive use on the peninsula. Additional speed surveys were agreed, with SCC kindly funding.
- An additional dog bin site was agreed -
near to Gayford Terrace.
- Planning applications - the Council had no objection to:
- 25 Kirkton Close (extension)
- Cockle Creek Cottage, Rose Farm Lane
- Next meeting: 17 January 2008 (village hall).
