- Cllr Richard Wrinch was elected Chairman, replacing Cllr Mel Matthews. <More details of members>
- Former Cllrs Anna Long and Clare Sullivan (in absentia) were presented with Shotley Community Achievement Awards.
- Two members reported back on initial discussions held with the Marina on the County Council's proposals for new signing and lining from Bristol Hill to Shotley Marina.
- Grants were agreed for various parish organisations and projects, including
Robert John Hartley – memorial bench; village hall; Good Neighbours Scheme; Suffolk Family Carers; School PFA Viking View outdoor classroom (hoped to be complete by autumn) and the Ganges Wood tenth anniversary celebration.
- A summer children's activities programme is currently being planned by Babergh and Shotley Youth Club for the Lloyd Road play area in Shotley Gate. The provisional dates are 3rd, 13th and 31st August. More details to be announced on MyShotley.com as soon as confirmed.
- The shortage of potential contractors for the Tennis Courts project continues to cause a delay. However, the damaged central fencing in the Lloyd Road play area had been removed for safety reasons, and the area strimmed.
- External grant applications have been submitted for additional funding towards Village Hall improvements.
- A meeting had been held between parish councillors and the HMS Ganges developers and architects. Haylink / Galliard Homes intend to submit four planning applications. The main two are for a retirement community on part of the site, and a new masterplan of residential and other uses. More details here.
- Members of Shotley Parish Council held a meeting to brief other Parish Councils on the peninsula on the latest situation.
- District Councillor Tony Roberts gave an update on issues of concern, particularly bin emptying and bus stop locations. He also raised his concern about Babergh's dustbin collection policy.
- County Councillor David Wood's report
- Several members are to get together to progress a decision on future grounds maintenance arrangements in the Parish.
- A Safer Neighbourhood Team community consultation meeting is being arranged at Shotley Primary School [confirmed as 11 July 2007]. This will discuss recent anti-social behaviour, plus anyone can raise issues. More details here.
- The Clerk will check the latest situation on the breached River Stour Path.
- The possibility of the foreshore off Lower Harlings coming onto the open market was discussed. The next meeting to discuss support for community organisations obtaining the land.
- Part of footpath 13 at Shotley Marsh Sluice will be closing temporarily between 2 and 29 July to enable repair works to be carried out. More details here.
- The PC had no objection to planning applications relating to 1 Brickfield Terrace Wades Lane and
Linfield The Street. The applications for 1 Below Church and 30 Great Harlings had been approved.
- 22 Orwell View Road
- The Annual Return for 2006/07 was signed. Finance report
- It was reported that the local household waste site at Chelmondiston is the top in Suffolk for proportion of recycling.
- There was a very useful update on Babergh's progress with developing further affordable homes in Kingsland.
- The Clerk reported progress on a number of new and outstanding issues around the parish. Litter and dog bins had not been emptied through the contract with Babergh. Cllr Tony Roberts and the Clerk had found that it was due to staff disciplinary problems and was now resolved. Buses going off route in Kingsland had caused concern due to the proximity of the playground.
