Advice on bonfires |

| Shotley residents are asked to think of others when setting bonfires, especially in windy conditions. If a person has frequent bonfires, burns plastics/rubber materials etc or persistently leaves a bonfire to smoulder, formal action can be taken. The Environmental Protection Act 1990 (section 79) is the relevant piece of legislation. However, most bonfires tend to be of short duration or occur very occasionally. If you need to complain about persistent offenders, please contact Babergh District Council, tel 01473 825890. If a commercial business burns trade waste and causes lots of smoke/fumes you can report the matter direct to the Environment Agency (Incident Hotline 0800 80 70 60) and they can investigate. |
