| Following
the success of the Shotley Peninsular Parish Councils in obtaining a grant
from the Countryside Agency to extend the Buzabout service we are pleased
to announce a number of service improvements. These improvements are to
be introduced on the 4th January 2005.
The hours of operation of the Community Car service are to be increased to provide a door to door service for the peninsula daytime and evenings 7 days a week. The service will now operate
The Community Car provides a taxi like service for the price of a bus and can be used by anyone, young or old, who needs to get where conventional buses don't reach in the peninsula and its surroundings. It can be used to get to the shops, to the doctors, to the post office, to visit a friend or relative, to attend a local community organisation or to reach any other local facility. It can also be used to connect with conventional bus and rail services to reach destinations beyond the peninsula or when these don't run may provide journeys directly to some nearby destinations. In the morning for example it can be used to access rail services at Manningtree and at night at times the 97 isn't available to go into Ipswich to eat out, go to the cinema, to a theatre or to a club. On Fridays and Saturdays it can provide a return journey from Ipswich anytime up to 01.30 in the morning or you can simply use it to get back from the Station or late night shopping. The service must be booked in advance and there is a new telephone number 0845 4581920. This is now the booking number for all door to door services serving the peninsula, just call it to ask for the journey you need to make. The booking times for the service have been extended so you can now book anytime between 09.00 & 17.00 Monday to Friday (including for bookings at weekends and evenings). There have also been recent improvements to both the 97 and the 98 bus services from Shotley to Ipswich with additional daytime services on the 98, an evening service added to the 97 and most recently new Sunday services on both routes. For timetable information on these and all other conventional services you can call: 0870 608 2 608 Why
not give the services a try, you might be pleasantly surprised at just
how easy travelling by Buzabout can be. |
