The Parish Council heard that a summer childrens activities programme is currently being planned by Babergh and Shotley Youth Club for the Lloyd Road play area in Shotley Gate. The provisional dates are 3rd, 13th and 31st August. More details to be announced on MyShotley.com as soon as confirmed. The shortage of potential contractors for the Tennis Courts project continues to cause a delay. However, the damaged central fencing in the Lloyd Road play area had been removed for safety reasons, and the area strimmed. |

The Parish Council has today heard the good news that the Babergh East Local Stratgic Partnership have given us permission to draw £10,000 from their grant towards redeveloping the Shotley Gate tennis courts area. Work will now progress towards consulting villagers about your views, and levering-in additional funding from elsewhere. Please tell us what you think - see the design brief. |

Following the decision at the Parish Council meeting in December to improve and upgrade the facilities at the tennis courts in Shotley Gate as soon as possible, a design brief has now been drafted, and submitted to the Babergh East Local Strategic Partnership for part funding through the grant already awarded. Subject to the outcome of that, quotations will be sought and draft plans prepared and consulted upon with the community. If you have any views on the proposals put forward in this document, please contact us. And keep an eye on MyShotley.com for further news of progress. |

Shotley Parish Council is asking for ideas for redeveloping the tennis courts at Shotley Gate. The courts, which are owned by the Council, are in a dilapidated state and the fencing is dangerous. With two new play areas for younger children having been completed in recent years the Council is asking for ideas for meeting the recreational needs of older young people and adults. Ideas, thoughts and comments can be emailed to info@myshotley.com or sent to the Parish Plan Implementation Board, 16a The Street, Shotley Suffolk, IP9 1LD Young people can also come along to Shotley Youth Club on Wednesday 6 December at the Village Hall from 4.00pm where there will be plans, drawings and brochures to stimulate ideas and discussion.
