Implementation of the Shotley Parish Plan

Shotley Parish Plan

Following the most extensive and in depth consultation process ever undertaken in Shotley, the Parish Plan is now being implemented.

A Parish Plan Implementation Board has now been formed to deliver the recomendations of the Plan. The Board reports to the Parish Council..
Some progress is already underway:

  • Shotley Parish Council have been awarded £25,000 from the Babergh East Local Strategic Partnership to help fund the recommendations of the Parish Plan particularly building community infrastructure, addressing the needs of young people and local economic development.  Local groups and organisations who may have eligible projects are invited to apply for funding.

  • Two Parish Councillors have met young people from all year groups at Holbrook High about the lack of youth provision on the peninsula. Some of the points that were made were progressed immediately, such as a clear up and tidy of the tennis courts. The pupils' idea to open the Village Hall after school, has become a reality with the opening of the new Shotley Youth Club.
  • A Communications Strategy was agreed by the Parish Council on 15 June 2006. This will continue to guide and support the community in articulating and implementing its wishes.
  • The Parish Council decided in December to refurbish and upgrade the tennis courts in Shotley Gate. A design brief was produced in January 2007.
  • A Steering Group has started to build for the future of your community website, MyShotley.com
