HOLBROOK AND SHOTLEY - DOCTORS SURGERIES
Morning surgeries (8.40-11.50)
are held at both Holbrook and Shotley every weekday.
Doctors are seen by appointment, but both surgeries are open from 8am for patients to collect medicines, make appointments and general enquiries.
Normally you can book an appointment a month ahead but special arrangements apply when a doctor has been away.
Afternoon surgeries (3.50-6.20) are held as follows:
- Monday Shotley
- Tuesday Holbrook
- Wednesday Holbrook
- Thursday Shotley
- Friday Holbrook (emergency clinic – cannot be booked before 1pm, Friday)
Please feel free to attend whichever surgery is open and convenient for you, but of course not all doctors work every evening so you may not be able to see your usual doctor.
The surgery which does not have the evening clinic will be open until 5pm except
- Holbrook closes at 12.30pm on Thursdays
- Shotley closes at 12.30pm on Fridays.
REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS
Order your repeat medications by:
Putting the repeat slip (attached to the previous prescription) in the box in the waiting room
or
Faxing your written request (see numbers above) – ensure you give full details
or
Telephoning the Dispensary numbers above (this service is only available after 12 noon )
Please allow 48 working hours for the prescription/medication to be available for collection.
You can now order repeat prescriptions via the Surgery website.
Also, if you are due to travel abroad, via the website you can download and print the form you need to complete so our nursing staff can advise on what vaccinations you may need.
TELEPHONE ADVICE
If you would like to speak to a doctor or nurse for advice during the working day, ring the surgery and the receptionist will advise you when the doctor or nurse will be able take your call. This will normally be after surgery to avoid disrupting consultations.
RESULTS OF TESTS
Please ring after 11am for the results of tests. We cannot give results to anyone but the patient themselves unless you are the parent or guardian of the patient who is under 16.
SMOKING CESSATION
We offer clinics during the day or in the evening for patients who wish to give up smoking. Ask for an appointment with one of the nurses who is specially trained in this work.
MINOR SURGERY
We can provide a certain range of procedures which may prevent you having to travel further away for treatment. This normally happens by prior arrangement with the doctor.
NURSES CLINICS
We have a team of experienced nurses who deal with dressings, some minor injuries, vaccinations, cervical smears and can give advice on many issues. They also see, regularly, patients who suffer from a range of long term illnesses, and monitor their conditions. Normally such patients will need to see a nurse before further repeat prescriptions can be issued.
MATERNITY AND CHILD HEALTH CLINICS
We work closely with the Community Midwife and Health Visitor who both hold clinics in our surgeries. |
